Our collection of courses for the orientation training of Texas Assisted Living Facility Direct Care Staff is designed to align with the requirements in Section 553.253 - Employee Qualifications and Training of the Texas Administrative Code.
Texas requires 4 hours of orientation training before Direct Care Staff assume any job responsibilities, and 16 hours of supervised training within the first 16 hours of employment following orientation. This collection contains 18 courses, totalling 20 hours of training, and covers a number of topics including, patients’ rights, confidentiality, responding to and reporting elder abuse, infection control, emergency response, communication, an overview of working with older adults, assisting with ADLs and iADLs, resident care procedures for persons with problems related to age, disability, or illness, basic first aid, working with clients with challenging behaviors, behavioral supports, fall prevention, observation and reporting, and incident reporting. Courses to meet Texas dementia training requirements are included in our annual training for direct care staff, but can be added to this collection.
This collection can be used as is, or combined with any of our other courses to create an effective, and easy to understand, orientation training program for your Texas-based Direct Care Staff team.
