Our collection of courses for the initial training of Homemakers in Rhode Island, is designed to align with the requirements stated in Section 216-RICR-40-10-17.5 - Organization and Management of the Rhode Island Administrative Code.
Rhode Island requires 20 hours of classroom instruction, and 5 hours of practical experience, for the initial training of Homemakers. This collection contains 19 courses, totalling 20 hours of training, and covers a number of topics including, an overview of home care, professionalism, confidentiality, legality and ethics, working with older adults, basic human needs, the aging process and terminal illness, an overview of mental illness care, an introduction to dementia care, basic housekeeping, home management, nutrition and hydration, meal preparation, assisting with ADLs and iADLs, observation and reporting, the reporting of elder abuse, infection control, and safety and emergencies.
This collection can be used as is, or combined with any of our other courses to create a customized initial training program for your Rhode Island-based Homemaker team.
